20th Anniversary Awards Campaign
In a celebration of the one-of-a-kind influence that Google Maps Platform has had on the world over its first 20 years, my creative team partnered with GMP marketing to conceive of and execute a first-ever developer awards showcase that blew away metrics and expectations and championed the fresh-thinking developlers around the globe that makes Google Maps an indispensable part of our world.
The Google Maps Platform Awards marked the first-ever edition of a global recognition program for developers building innovative solutions with Google Maps Platform. When we first presented this idea to the GMP Marketing Team, it was conceived as a moonshot initiative – far more ambitious than the initial plan for a modest celebration. What our team produced was nothing short of a global developer competition designed to engage a global user bsae, stimulate new use cases, and publicly showcase the impact of Google Maps Platform’s technology.
The idea evolved into a large-scale, multi-month, multi-channel campaign designed, produced, and executed end-to-end – culminating in a showcase of innovation across industries and categories. Videos, original content, web design in three phases, global submissions and voting mechanics, and completely custom trophy design and manufacturing brought the whole thing to life.
