Retro Space Mission Paintings

For this illustration project in collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboritory, the ask was to create some inspiring imagery to herald the beginning of a new mission to the outer reaches of the solar system. Drawing inspiration from sci-fi artwork of the 60s and 70s, our team reached out to master conceptual artist to establish a look and feel of pure awe and imagination while remaining grounded in some hard and fast scientific realities about the destinations we were depicting.
One of the joys of working at Laetro was the community’s deep connections to the film and entertainment industry, yielding collaborations with artists like this one (a veteran of films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange) and all sorts of other character designers, illustrators, animators, and 3D teams.
